In general and for both scratch and kit builders instructions: Choose your stock, stringers etc. as well before building the ribs. On the ribs, for scratch builders, cut around the slots, marking the stock along the way first to cut them out afterwards. Adjust the stock accordingly towards what you are choosing when cutting out the ribs. The length of the stick for the fuselage is relative to how you want the plane to perform. Original scratch built plane shown during and after assembly is 37 inches roughly, as of this writing, it's at my shop, so to keep the writing expedient, moving on. Shorter lengths and lighter materials will result in different flight characteristics, depending upon desire, but in general, 20% less then wing length is a good balance for a simple trainer. Short kit instructions: A short kit version of the Simple Stick plane is available. All balsa that requires being shaped are laser cut which are entirely ribs. The customer provides the straight stock such as stringers and spars. A thin hardwood servo tray is also supplied. This helps cut down on shipping costs dramatically and is very easy for a modeler to supply themselves. You will be using 1/4" stock for the leading edge and lower wing spar. Be careful fitting the parts, the tolerances are tight, gentle, minimal light sanding may be necessary as needed. *As of May 1, 2022, price of the kit version is $25.00 with free shipping through the lower 48 in the US, +$4.00 for outlying states, Canada +$15.00 and the UK +17. It's always great to hear from people interested in this hobby. The plans are designed to be printed out on an ordinary letterhead printer, cut and taped together appropriately. 40 inch wingspan version shown is what is used to gauge the size of the print out.
